Grayslake Giving Tree Exhibit Opens For Holiday Season

There will be 17 Christmas trees on display at the Grayslake Heritage Center through the holiday season.

GRAYSLAKE, IL — The Grayslake Giving Tree exhibit opened Friday at the Grayslake Heritage Center, 164 Hawley Street in Grayslake.

This year's attraction will feature 17 Christmas trees decorated by area nonprofit and community organizations. The heritage center officially opened its doors to allow for public viewing of the trees from 3 to 8 p.m. Friday during the village's tree lighting and holiday festival.

About 1,000 people are expected to visit the display during the festival Friday and hundreds more will stop out during the holiday season to see the trees and vote on their favorite one, according to Shaw Media.

A $1 ticket is needed to allow for people to vote for their favorite trees, according to the article. The organization with the winning tree will keep 100 percent of the proceeds brought in during voting and the rest of the proceeds will be split between the Grayslake Historical Society and other participating organizations.
