Grayslake Man Arrested After Bringing Gun To Bars: Police

GRAYSLAKE, IL — A $15,000 bail has been ordered for a 23-year-old Grayslake man who is accused of bringing a gun into two bars in Gages Lake on Saturday, authorities said. Joe Torres, of the 33000 block of Sears Boulevard, has also been ordered not to stop out to Jesse Oaks Food & Drink or Firehouse Pub following the incident Saturday.

Lake County Sheriff's Office deputies were called to the 18400 block of Old Gages Lake Road in Gages Lake shortly after midnight Saturday after receiving a report of shots fired, according to a news release from the sheriff's office.

Witnesses told police a man displayed his gun while outside Jesse Oaks Food & Drink before walking over to Firehouse Pub, authorities said. They said they then heard what sounded like two gunshots.

Police found a man who matched a description given by witnesses on the back deck at Firehouse Pub. When he saw police, he ran through the bar and the front door of the bar before falling, authorities said.

Police took Torres into custody and he's been charged with aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, reckless discharge of a firearm, disorderly conduct, unlawful possession of ammunition and two counts of resisting a police officer.

Authorities say they found a magazine with ammunition on Torres. A canine team was called to the scene and was located by Gurnee Police Department K9 Bear near where the man fell, according to a news release.

Torres was treated at the scene for a small cut sustained when he fell. No one else was injured in the incident.
