‘Green Sheikh‘ Visits College of Lake County Next Week
His Highness (HH) Sheikh Abdul Aziz Al Nuaimi will speak on Sept. 23.
CLC: CLC is pleased to host His Highness (HH) Sheikh Abdul Aziz Al Nuaimi, a member of the Ajman royal family in the United Arab Emirates, at the Grayslake Campus on Monday, Sept. 23 for a day of collaboration, conversation and a public speaking engagement.
Sheikh Abdul Aziz, better known as the “Green Sheikh,” is known for his work as a proponent for the environment and for encouraging youth to develop their ideas and become leaders. For the past 25 years, HH has collaborated with people around the world on issues related to humanity, global peace, cooperation, understanding and environmental stewardship. His greatest passion is “to inspire, motivate and mentor young leaders…who will go on to make the changes required for a better, more peacefully interdependent and cooperative world.”
When Dr. Catherine Finger, Vice Chair of the College of Lake County Board of Trustees, met the Green Sheikh, she was impressed with his advocacy for youth leadership and his activism for environmental issues and offered to introduce him to the Lake County community. At his presentation on Monday, Sept. 23, at 10:30 a.m. in the Room A011 Auditorium, HH will emphasize the importance of sustainability and the United Arab Emirates’ sustainability efforts. HH also will describe his international student leadership program, which highlights innovative plans to promote international understanding and spark conservation efforts among young leaders.
