Healthcare Discussion LMOFA

Fox Lake, IL  - Lindsay Siler, National Director of Issue Campaigns for Organizing for Action, was the featured speaker at a healthcare discussion hosted by the Lake/McHenry chapter of OFA, on Sunday. The setting was on Fox Lake, with about 50 in attendance.

Siler shared that OFA is focused on the implementation of the initial phase of the Affordable Health Care Act, also known as Obamacare. OFA  will be teaming up with coalition partners to facilitate the enrollment of potential participants during the enrollment period of October 1, 2013 through March 31, 2014. Siler emphasized that all citizens must be "armed with the facts."

LMOFA member Kathryn Kinder also shared her personal story of currently negotiating what she called a "patchwork" healthcare system, that she's had to painstakingly devise for herself.

Erin Hannigan, Health Care Campaign Manager, OFA, also spoke about Obamacare. She stressed that Obamacare will provide "better coverage and lower costs, better access, and better quality of care."

A question and answer session followed the conclusion of the presentation. Then the enthusiastic participants shared food and conversation, and took time to celebrate President Obama's 52nd birthday with a birthday cake.
