How Road Crossing Work Will Affect Metra North Passengers

Metra will bus passengers on the last outbound Milwaukee District North Line train Saturday night, Aug. 25 between Grayslake and Fox Lake.

From Metra: Metra will bus passengers on the last outbound Milwaukee District North Line train Saturday night, Aug. 25 between Grayslake and Fox Lake due to a rail crossing renewal project at state Route 120 (Belvidere Road).

Customers on board Train 2627, which departs Chicago Union Station at 12:25 a.m., will detrain at the Grayslake Station located at Lake and St. Paul streets and transfer to one of two Pace buses. One bus will accommodate passengers bound for Round Lake and Long Lake while a second bus will make stops at Ingleside and Fox Lake. Customers traveling beyond Grayslake should allow for extra travel time.

The bus service will allow Metra workers to replace components of the state Route 120 crossing in Grayslake. The work is being performed during the overnight hours to minimize service disruption.

Service on the rail line is expected to be restored for Train 2600’s scheduled departure from Fox Lake on Sunday morning. However, if service cannot be restored by that time, buses will also be used to transport passengers from the Fox Lake, Ingleside, Long Lake and Round Lake stations to Grayslake where they will board an inbound train.
