IKEA To Open Third Chicago Area Location In Northern Suburbs

The 66,000-square-foot store plans to open next spring at Gurnee Mills.

GURNEE, IL — IKEA is opening its third location in the Chicago suburbs at Gurnee Mills in Gurnee, the Swedish home furnishings company announced Tuesday.

The 66,000-square-foot store will be smaller than other full-size IKEA locations in Schaumburg and Bolingbrook, a mall official told the Daily Herald Tuesday. The store plans to open next spring in a portion of the former Sears Grand Store at the Gurnee mall.

The IKEA will have 3,000 take-home items for sale as well as 600 furniture pieces. The store will also sell a variety of the other IKEA customer favorites, including meatballs, hot dogs, veggie dogs, plant dogs, cinnamon buns and more.
