Lake Co. To Offer New Recycling Service Later This Month
For a fee, residents can drop off latex paint, small single-use propane cylinders and fire extinguishers at the SWALCO facility.
LAKE COUNTY, IL — The Solid Waste Agency of Lake County plans to kick off its new monthly drop-off service for latex paint, small single-use propane cylinders and fire extinguishers later this month.
The new service, which is expected to start on May 25, is available by appointment only. There is a fee to drop off the items and credit or debit cards are the only accepted forms of payment. The fee covers the cost of proper handling, storing and recycling/reuse of these items.
Following the inaugural May 25 drop-off event, the new service will be available by appointment on the third Wednesday of every month. Unknown or unlabeled cylinders, considers and containers will not be accepted. The service is meant for residential material only and not for business waste.
