Lake Co. Police Dog Helps Find Man: Police
Lake Co. Sheriff's Office officer Craig Somerville and his K9 partner Diesel helped a man reportedly having a mental crisis.

LAKE COUNTY, IL — A Lake County Sheriff’s Office K9 officer is being credited with helping to track down a man having a mental crisis over the weekend. On Saturday night, the Lake County Sheriff's Office was called to assist after a man fled from a hospital in the 400 block of Route 22 in unincorporated Barrington, according to a post on the Lake County Sheriffs Office Facebook page.
Officer Craig Somerville and his K9 partner Diesel were among the sheriff's office team called out, and Diesel got to work tracking the scent of the man, according to police. Diesel ended up locating the man about a mile from the hospital in thick weeds north of the roadway.
The man was transported back to the hospital to receive the care he needed, police said.
