Lake Co. Probation Officer Pleads Guilty for Awarding Service Hours for Sexual Favors, Cash

LAKE COUNTY, IL - A former Lake County probation officer pleaded guilty to official misconduct charges for awarding service hours to those on probation in exchange for money or sexual acts.
As part of a plea deal, Anselmo Magana, 45, of Lindenhurst, entered the guilty pleas to felony charges and in exchange for the admittance of guilt, six counts of official misconduct were dropped, according to the Daily Herald.
Magana is accused of unlawfully awarding the service hours to probation clients who had not completed the hours assigned by the court, police said. He was charged in June 2015. An investigation into the misconduct began in January 2014. Detectives conducted several interviews during their investigation.

A total of six victims were involved in the case, according to the Daily Herald.
Of those victims, Magana received money by trading service hours on nine different occasions and received sexual favors from the same woman on two separate occasions, according to the Lake County News-Sun. Four women and two men on probation received "the credits' from Magana.
