Lake County Fair Has Been Cancelled
The Lake County Fair had been scheduled for July 29 to Aug. 2.
LAKE COUNTY, IL — The Lake County Fair has been called off this year but fair organizers plan to host a virtual competition instead. With continued concerns over the new coronavirus, the Lake County Fair Association Board announced Monday that the fair, which was scheduled to run from July 29 to Aug. 2, has been cancelled.
"We feel under the circumstances of uncertainty, this is the right decision for the health and safety of fairgoers, supporters, volunteers and the surrounding community," according to the announcement posted Monday on the Lake County Fairgrounds Facebook page.
With the hopes of keeping the spirit of the fair alive and recognizing those who have been working hard to take part in this year's competition, the fair board did decide to hold a 2020 Lake County Virtual Fair Competition instead. More information is available on Lake County Fair website.
