Lake County Power Outages Reported Amid High Winds

ComEd customers in Fremont Township, Mundelein and Long Grove are experiencing power outages Friday afternoon.

FREMONT TOWNSHIP, IL β€” About 16 percent of ComEd customers in Fremont Township are currently without power, according to ComEd.

The power company estimates 336 customers lost power amid high wind gusts Friday, according to ComEd's online outage map. The power company estimates to have power back on for them by 5:45 p.m.

Other portions of Lake County experiencing power outages include Mundelein, where 95 customers were currently in the dark; and Hawthorn Woods, with 90 homes or businesses without power.

The entire Chicago area remains under a winter weather warning until 6 a.m. on Saturday, according to the National Weather Service. The weather service said that gusts of 40 to 50 mph will create blowing and drifting snow, especially in open areas.

The wind gusts could also lead to more power outages.
