The College of Lake County (CLC) presents the entertaining production of School House Rock Live! featuring many local talents this week and next. With musical direction by Paul Hefner, School House Rock’s pit orchestra showcases Grayslake’s Chapin Jazz Studio teacher Dr. Paul Nielsen on banjo/bass and owner Bill Chapin on piano. Percussionist Dan Prowse Jr. rounds out the team of incredible musicians.
Under the direction of Brian J. Gill, School House Rock Live! is a fun, family musical that succeeds due to the expertise of Zach Wilson and Ty on the soundboard, Chris and Luke on lights and the talented production team including Jeffrey Weiss, Linnea Strack, Patty Halajian, Bianca Gonzalez, Hasti Hoorbod, Sullivan Clark and many more. Choreographer Lamaiya Lancaster, Scenic Designer Tracie Folger, and Costume Designer Sally Gill added a unique depth to the show.
The amazing cast of six local actors uses every inch of the Studio Theatre at CLC: Octavio Hernandez (new teacher Tom), Dan Kim (George), Trinity Wallace (Dori), Hannah Allie (Shulie), Mark Warden (crazy leg Joe) and Caitlin Ekornaas (Dina). A trio of television screens enhance every well-known song the actors belt out including I’m Just a Bill, The Preamble, Conjunction Junction and eighteen other Emmy Award-winning and educational songs. Opening night is Friday, July 14th at 7:30 pm. Thursday, July 20th is a Buy 1, Get 1 Free performance. Matinees run on Sunday 7/16 and 7/23 at 2 pm, and Thursday through Saturday show times are at 7:30 pm.
Box office opens one hour before the show and has daily hours of Monday–Friday, 10 am to 4 pm. Tickets are $15 for the General Public and $10 for CLC Staff and Students, Teens, and Seniors 65+. www.clcillinois.edu/tickets
