Large, Unruly Party Broken Up In Antioch: Authorities

A 23-year-old man faces felony weapons charges following the incident, which occurred on Ida Avenue Sunday night.

ANTIOCH, IL — A 23-year-old man was arrested on felony weapons charges after authorities were called to a large and unruly party in Antioch Sunday night.

Police say they found a crowd of more than 30o people at the party in the 200 block of Ida Avenue in Antioch shortly after 10 p.m. The partygoers, who primarily appear to have come from outside Antioch, initially refused to disperse, which created "an unruly scene throughout the neighborhood," according to a news release from Antioch Police.

Mutual aid from more than a dozen neighboring police agencies was called to assist Antioch officers, and it took authorities more than four hours to break up the party. Authorities took into custody a 23-year-old man, who authorities have not yet identified, on the felony weapons charges.

“We are dedicated to maintaining the safety of our residents,” Guttschow said. “Crimes like this, especially that involve illegal firearms, will not be tolerated.”
