Legal Challenge Grows As Grayslake Moves Ahead With Massive Data Center Project
Construction is underway near Peterson Road even as residents pursue court action over the village's approval, officials say.
GRAYSLAKE, IL — Grayslake officials are moving forward with a massive data center campus project now under construction near Peterson Road.
The development is part of T5 Data Centers’ planned campus that could span hundreds of acres in the northwest suburbs, but residents have raised concerns about water use, energy demand and the overall scale of the project, according to the Lake County News-Sun.
The project has also drawn legal challenges from opponents who argue the village’s approval process and zoning decisions did not adequately address environmental and infrastructure impacts. Those lawsuits are ongoing as construction gets underway on the project.
