Man, 19, Dead In Grayslake Collision: Police
An 86-year-old woman was also injured in the crash at Washington Street and Atkinson Road on Monday afternoon, police said.
GRAYSLAKE, IL — A 19-year-old man is dead following a two-vehicle collision Monday afternoon in Grayslake.
The collision happened at about 2:15 p.m. at Washington Street and Atkinson Road when a black Volkswagen, driven by the teen, was headed east on Washington Street and hit a blue Toyota sports utility vehicle headed west on Washington, which was driven by an 86-year-old woman, according to a news release from the Grayslake Police Department. .
The SUV was attempting to turn southbound onto Atkinson Road at the time of the crash, police said. Following the collision, the Volkswagen left the road and hit a traffic light pole on the southeast side of the intersection.

Both drivers were transported to area hospitals.
The man was pronounced deceased at Condell Medical Center. The elderly woman sustained injuries that are not considered life-threatening.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
