Man Arrested for Online Solicitation of Boy, 14

Erick J. Arroyo Acosta, of the 200 block of Julian Street in Waukegan, is being held on a $25,000 bond.

Authorities on Friday arrested a 19-year-old Waukegan man accused of using a social media site to try and set up a sexual encounter with a 14-year-old boy, police said.

Erick J. Arroyo Acosta, of the 200 block of Julian Street in Waukegan, is being held on a $25,000 bond. He is charged with two counts of traveling to meet a minor (Class 3 Felony) and unlawful possession of alcohol (Class A Misdemeanor).

He is accused of contacting who he thought was a 14-year-old boy on a mobile social networking application. He requested to meet up with the boy at 6 p.m. on Friday to engage in sexual acts.

A Lake County Sheriff’s Office detective was posing as the boy online and Acosta was taken into custody.

He is next expected in court on June 9.
