Man Beat Woman, Hit Police Dog In Round Lake Beach: Authorities
Sanjuan Reyes, 36, is accused of severely beating a woman and then fleeing the home early Saturday, police said.

ROUND LAKE BEACH, IL — A 36-year-old Round Lake Beach man faces charges for allegations he severely beat a woman and also punched a police dog early Saturday, authorities said.
Sanjuan Reyes, of the 900 block of Bugle Court in Round Lake Beach, has been charged with two counts of domestic battery, aggravated domestic battery, aggravated battery, striking a police animal and resisting arrest in connection with the attack, which happened in Waukegan, according to a news release from the Lake County Sheriff's Office.
The 39-year-old woman sustained several injuries, including broken bones, and is being treated at an area hospital, authorities said.

The Lake County Sheriff's Office was called to help Round Lake Beach police search for Reyes after Reyes showed up at a relative's home in Joliet intoxicated and covered in blood. Reyes' family called police concerned Reyes may have killed another family member, according to the news release.
He left the relative's home shortly after arriving, police said.

Police found Reyes' vehicle, with a significant amount of blood inside, in a parking lot near Route 83 and Rollins Road in Round Lake Beach. K9 Dax assisted with the search for Reyes and tracked for about a half-mile, where he found Reyes hiding in a thick bush line in the area of Route 83 and Rollins Road.
Reyes refused to surrender and hit K9 Dax after the police dog bit him, according to police. K9 Dax was taken to a veterinarian for an evaluation but was not injured.
Reyes appeared for an initial court hearing Saturday, and a Lake County judge ordered he be held for a detention hearing.
