Man Busted With 2,000 Pills Containing Fentanyl: Police

The 30-year-old Gurnee man now faces felony charges.

GURNEE, IL —A 30-year-old man who was busted with more than 2,000 pills containing fentanyl has been arrested.

Officers with the Gurnee Police Department arrested James W. Asthma on Wednesday after pulling him over at about 7:30 p.m. in Gurnee. A police dog alerted officers to the presence of narcotics during the stop, and officers searched the car, finding cocaine and a substantial amount of cash, according to a news release from the police department.

Police found the 2,000 pills containing fentanyl while searching Asma's home following his arrest, police said.

Asma has been charged with possession with the intent to manufacture and deliver fentanyl, possession of fentanyl and possession of cocaine.

Additional charges are possible, police said.
