Man Dies After Boat Crashes Into Lake Michigan Break Wall

LAKE COUNTY, IL — A Round Lake Beach man died after a boat crashed into a break wall near a marina in Hammond, Indiana, late Saturday night, authorities said.

Authorities said Herman Woods, 66, was among six people aboard the boat when it struck the break wall around 11:30 p.m., according to media reports. He was found unresponsive on the break wall and later died at a hospital despite life-saving efforts.

The Indiana Department of Natural Resources is investigating the crash, and no criminal charges have been filed.
