Motorcyclist Critically Injured in Lake County Crash

The crash occurred in Wadsworth Monday afternoon.

WADSWORTH, IL - A motorcycle driver was critically injured Monday afternoon in a crash in northern Lake County.

Lake County Sheriff’s Office deputies were called to North Delany Road and Wadsworth Road in Wadsworth at about 12 p.m. on Monday for a traffic crash with injuries.

The crash occurred when the driver of a 2005 Toyota Corolla was traveling south on Delany Road and collided with a 2014 Harley Davidson, which was westbound on Wadsworth Road, according to a preliminary investigation. Authorities said the driver of the motorcycle ran a red light, struck the Toyota was ejected from the motorcycle.

The motorcycle driver, who was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash, was taken to Condell Medical Center with critical injuries. The driver of the Toyota was transported to Vista East Hospital with injuries believed to be non-life threatening.

The traffic crash remains under investigation by the Lake County Sheriff’s Office Technical Crash Investigations Unit.
