New Businesses Coming to Grayslake in 2016
Village officials are also in talks with a buyer to bring a new grocery store to the former Piggly Wiggly location in Grayslake.

A new restaurant in downtown Grayslake and a controversial trucking terminal are all expected to open in the village in 2016, Mayor Rhett Taylor told Patch.
Taylor said the following new businesses have been approved by the Grayslake Village Council and are planning to open up shop in 2016:
- Bowes Public House: The restaurant will open in downtown Grayslake in 2016. It is expected to have 300 seats.
- Grayslake Senior Living: The 92,000-square-feet assisted living facility is planned for Belvidere Road.
- SAIA LTL Freight: Construction is well underway on the controversial 71,000-square foot trucking terminal on Peterson Road. The village of Mundelein and several residents have sued Grayslake over the trucking terminal as they have questioned the validity of an annexation agreement and zoning changes to build the facility in Grayslake, according to the Daily Herald. The facility will be located close to a Mundelein neighborhood, which has perturbed many, but Grayslake officials say the terminal will create new jobs and increase property tax revenue for two school districts. Taylor said the village is finalizing an economic incentive agreement with a potential buyer for the former Piggly Wiggly at Atkinson Road and Center Street. If the plan moves forward, a new grocery store would fill the space but Taylor did not specify which grocery store could be coming.
The space has been vacant since 2013 when Farmers market Place closed after a brief, six-month stint at the location, according to the Daily Herald. Prior to that, the Piggly Wiggly, which closed in 2012, had been operation for twenty years.

Another potential new development could be approved for the old Lake County fairgrounds. The village is in talks with a developer to create a mixed-use project that would include retail and office space as well as single-family housing.
