'Outrageously Mismanaged' Fox Lake Explorer Post Temporarily Disbanded
Authorities have no plans of renewing the group's charter in the near future.

Authorities confirmed Monday the Fox Lake Explorer post run by disgraced Lt. Charles Joseph Gliniewicz will be temporarily disbanded, stating the organization had been “outrageously mismanaged,” according to the Daily Herald. The Explorer program, which is governed by the Boy Scouts of America, has been shut down indefinitely because it did not follow rules set up by the Boy Scouts.
Some of the rule violations include: allowing unregistered youth to volunteer in the program, allowing unregistered adults to volunteer without a proper background check and paying some youth Explorers for working volunteer parking details, according to the article.
Glineiwicz shot himself on Sept. 1 as officials began to unravel an embezzlement scheme where the veteran Fox Lake cop stole tens of thousands of dollars from the Explorer program.
