Pedestrian Hit By 3 Cars, Hospitalized With Life-Threatening Injuries: Police
The collision happened Saturday night on Grand Avenue near Dilleys Road in Gurnee, police said.
GURNEE, IL — A Gurnee man suffered life-threatening injuries Saturday evening after being hit by multiple vehicles while crossing Grand Avenue outside a marked crosswalk, police said.
Officers with the Gurnee Police Department responded around 7:45 p.m. Saturday to the crash on Grand Avenue east of Dilleys Road, according to a news release from the police department.
Police say a 54-year-old Gurnee man was crossing the roadway outside of a designated crosswalk when he was struck by a Honda CR-V driven by an 81-year-old Beach Park woman, according to a news release. After the initial impact, the Honda left the scene but was later located at the driver’s residence, police said.

Authorities said the pedestrian remained in the roadway and was struck a second time by a Chevrolet Colorado pickup truck driven by a 26-year-old Gages Lake woman. The pickup remained at the scene but was then involved in a secondary crash when it was struck by a Kia driven by a 35-year-old North Chicago woman, according to the news release.
The drivers of the Chevrolet and Kia remained at the scene and are cooperating with investigators. Police said the Honda driver was not injured and is also cooperating with the investigation.

The pedestrian was transported to Advocate Condell Medical Center with life-threatening injuries.
Grand Avenue was closed for several hours while authorities processed the scene. The crash remains under investigation.
