Police Arrest Fugitive On Rape, Sodomy Charges

Lake County authorities took the Georgia man into custody in recent days.

LAKE COUNTY, IL — A Georgia man is being held without bail at the Lake County jail after local authorities arrested him on a warrant for first-degree rape and first-degree sodomy, authorities said. The U.S. Marshals Service - Great Lakes Regional Fugitive Task Force and the Lake County Sheriff's Office Warrants Team took Demetrius Dionte Bass, 22, of LaGrange, Georgia, into custody at a hotel in the 5000 block of Grand Avenue in Gurnee about 2:30 p.m. on Jan. 23.

The warrants team deputies set up surveillance at the hotel prior to his arrest and saw him walking through the parking lot when they surrounded him and took him into custody.

He was wanted out of Elmore County, Alabama, on charges of first-degree rape and first-degree sodomy. He was taken to the Lake County Jail where he is being held without bail pending extradition to Alabama.
