Suspects Still At Large After Shooting At Six Flags Great America
Three people were injured when shots were fired in the parking lot of the Gurnee theme park Sunday night.

GURNEE, IL — No one has been arrested in connection with a shooting that injured three people in the parking lot at Six Flags Great America Sunday night.
The "targeted incident" happened at about 7:50 p.m. when a white sedan drove into the parking lot at the theme park, 1 Great America Parkway in Gurnee, and drove toward the entrance. The suspects got out of the vehicle and started shooting at a person in the parking lot, according to a news release from the Illinois State Police.
The shooter or shooters then got back into the vehicle and fled the scene, authorities said. As of Monday morning, no additional information has been released regarding the suspects' whereabouts or how many were involved in the shooting.

A 17-year-old Aurora boy and a 19-year-old woman from Appleton, Wisconsin, were both taken to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville following the shooting with injuries that are not considered life-threatening. The boy sustained an injury to the upper thigh and the woman had a lower leg wound, according to authorities. Both people were released from the hospital after being treated for their injuries, Det. Shawn Gaylor said on Monday.
A third person sustained a shoulder injury but was not taken to the hospital for further treatment, authorities said.
"The shooting this evening was not a random act, and appeared to be a targeted incident that occurred outside the park," authorities said in a statement late Sunday. "This was not an active shooter incident inside the park."
Police said they first received several 911 calls shortly before 8 p.m. reporting shots fired at the amusement park, and many inside the theme park reported hiding and making exit plans with their families.
Jamar Tuazon, who was at the theme park, told the Lake/McHenry Scanner he heard gunshots and groups of people, including Tuazon and his family, started to hide. He told a mother, to "take the kids and run" if the shooters came.
"We armed ourselves with big rocks, as big as we could find," Tuazon said.
It's unclear at this point if the theme park, which closes at 8 p.m., was evacuated during the incident or what specific safety protocol was enacted.
Rachel Kendziora, the communications specialist for Six Flags, told Patch in a statement Monday several "layers of preventative measures" are in place "both inside and outside the park" to keep everyone safe.
"We are incredibly grateful to our team members who reacted in a professional manner to take care of our guests, and for the Gurnee Police Department for their ongoing presence and commitment to Six Flags Great America," said Kendziora in response to questions regarding what steps were taken Sunday following the shooting. "Six Flags dedicates our greatest amount of time, talent, and resources to safety and security."
She said safety protocol is reviewed and enhanced on a daily basis.
"Cameras placed in the parking lot and inside the park, uniformed and plain clothes patrols throughout the property, and advanced screening technology allow us to react quickly and provide important information," she said. "The park security team is joined by the Gurnee Police Department, who operates a substation at the park."
