Police: 'Person of Interest' in Grayslake-Area Murder Found Dead

Leo Amin, of Crystal Lake, was found dead in Chicago Tuesday night. His girlfriend, Dena Seymour, was found dead Tuesday morning.

A Crystal Lake man killed himself Tuesday night just 12 hours after his girlfriend was also found dead in her home near Grayslake, police said late Tuesday.

Police had named Leo Amin, 30, as a person of interest in connection with the murder of Dena Seymour, 46, after Seymour’s body was found at about 8:15 a.m. Tuesday in her home at 31294 North Alleghany Road in unincorporated Grayslake. She had been shot “more than once,” Lake County Sheriff’s Office Detective Christopher Covelli said.

At about 8 p.m. Tuesday, detectives learned Amin, of 1100 block of Lakeview Avenue in Crystal Lake, was found dead in Chicago. Chicago police said Amin died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head, according to the Chicago Sun-Times. His body was found at about 4:30 p.m. in the River North neighborhood.

An autopsy will be conducted to determine the cause and manner of Amin’s death. An autopsy is also scheduled for Seymour Wednesday afternoon in Lake County.
