Q.  We have a credit score of 690, is it possible to get a mortgage?  We would really love to buy a home.  Our rent keeps going up and it is getting hard to find a rental.

A.  I was speaking with a mortgage person and he said they could do loans with a score of 640 so it would be worth your while to speak to a loan officer.  There is a lot of mis-information out there about mortgage qualifications.  The FHA and VA loans can be much for lenient than conventional.  There are several grant programs available for first time buyers that won't be around forever  If you really want to buy a house, you should explore all your options.
