Reckless Homicide Charge Filed In Crash That Killed Woman, 28

Eric Fiador, 37, of Lindenhurst, is accused of causing the crash that killed AnnMarie Macias-Lauritzen, 28, of Round Lake Beach.

LAKE COUNTY, IL — A Lindenhurst man has been charged with reckless homicide nearly a year after authorities say he crossed the center line on Fairfield Road in Hawthorn Woods and caused a head-on crash that killed a 28-year-old Round Lake Beach woman.

Prosecutors allege Eric Fiador, 37, of Lindenhurst, was driving a Honda CR-V southbound on Fairfield Road on Aug. 9, 2025, when the vehicle entered oncoming traffic and struck a northbound Honda Accord. AnnMarie Macias-Lauritzen, a passenger in the Accord, suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene, while three others were seriously injured.

Court records show prosecutors approved a reckless homicide charge, a Class 3 felony, against Fiador in February, and an arrest warrant was later issued, the Lake & McHenry County Scanner is reporting. Fiador was taken into custody and processed at the Lake County Jail in April before being released following his initial court appearance.
