Lake Co. Forest Preserves Offer Christmas Tree Recycling
The trees will be recycled into wood chips for trails at Lake County Forest Preserves.
LAKE COUNTY, IL — The Lake County Forest Preserve District is accepting Christmas tree donations through Feb. 1, 2023. The Christmas trees will be recycled into wood chips, which are then used for trails and landscaping at forest preserve sites, according to the Lake County Forest Preserves Facebook page.
All real, undecorated Christmas trees can be dropped off at the following preserves sites in Lake County: Grand Woods in Ingleside, Greenbelt in North Chicago, Half Day in Vernon Hills, Heron Creek in Long Grove, Lakewood in Wauconda, Old School in Mettawa, Ryerson Conservation Area in Riverwoods, and Van Patten woods in Wadsworth.
The tress can be left at the marked drop-off sites between 6:30 a.m. through sunset daily through Feb. 1, 2023. No yard waste or commercial drop-offs are accepted.
