One Jailed for Aggravated Battery in Round Lake Beach Shooting

A 21-year-old Waukegan man is being held on a $150,000 bond on an aggravated battery charge after police responded to reports of several gunshots fired in Round Lake Beach Saturday night.

Police were called to a housing complex in the 1900 block of Cedar Lake Road at 9:36 p.m. where they learned a 23-year-old man had been struck in the head with a blunt object during a fight, according to a Round Lake Beach Police Department press release. No gunshot victims were located at that time.

The man injured in the battery was taken to the hospital.

Officers were later called to the emergency room at Lake Forest Hospital in Grayslake for a report of a man who arrived with a gunshot wound to his shoulder, police said.

The man was identified as Omar Marcias of Waukegan and was transferred to Condell Medical Center in Libertyville where he was later released and charged with aggravated battery in connection with the fight. The shooting and battery remains under investigation, according to the news release.
