Round Lake Beach Woman, 24, Injured in Waukegan Shooting

A 24-year-old Round Lake Beach woman was taken to the hospital early Saturday after she was shot in Waukegan, police said.

Authorities were called to the 00 block of North Genesee Street at about 12:10 a.m. on Saturday for a report of shots fired. When they arrived they found multiple shell casings in the street, according to a Waukegan Police Department press release.

hile officers were investigating shooting, they learned a 24-year-old Round Lake Beach woman, who was shot in the shoulder, arrived at Vista Medical Center with an injury that was not considered life-threatening.

The Waukegan Police Department’s Gang Intelligence Unit is investigating. Detectives believe the shooting was an isolated incident that stemmed from a verbal altercation, between two groups, earlier in the evening. Detectives also believe that shots were fired from both groups, according to a news release.

GIU Detectives also reported that Round Lake Beach woman and witnesses to the incident are cooperating with the investigation.
