Round Lake Man Drowned After Jumping From Boat: Lake Co. Coroner

ROUND LAKE, IL — A 26-year-old Round Lake man drowned after he jumped off a boat and didn’t resurface at Round Lake Beach on Sunday, the Lake County coroner’s office determined on Monday.

Luis Fernando Vazquez-Velazquez’s death is consistent with a drowning, the coroner’s office announced after an autopsy was conducted. Toxicology results are still pending and the investigation into his death continues by the Round Lake Beach Police Department, officials said Tuesday.

Police arrived in the 900 block of North Lake Shore Drive in Round Lake Beach for a person who had jumped off a boat to swimp and didn’t resurface. Vazquez-Velazquez was taken to Advocate Condell Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead, officials said.
