Smoke Alarms Credited With Saving Lives in Two Grayslake House Fires
The Grayslake Fire Protection District has been called to two house fires in the past week.

The first fire happened during the early morning hours of Dec. 24 in the 900 block of Dunhill Road and caused extensive damage to the house, according to a Grayslake Fire Protection District Facebook post. The second occurred Just after 3 a.m. Sunday in the 200 block of Harvey Avenue in Grayslake. Firefighters extinguished that blaze, which remains under investigation. No one was injured in either fires.
Following the early morning blazes, fire officials are reminding residents to test their smoke alarms every month.
“The Grayslake Fire Protection District urges everyone to please check your smoke detectors and make sure they are working. These families did and it probably saved their lives,” according to a Grayslake Fire Protection District Facebook post.
