Son, 5, Dies Weeks After Dad's Death In Crash

ROUND LAKE BEACH, IL — A 5-year-old Round Lake boy has died from injuries sustained during a crash that also claimed the life of his father.

Jesus Camarena was pronounced dead Tuesday afternoon at Lurie's Children's Hospital, according to a Cook County Medical Examiner report. The boy was initially listed in critical condition after being hospitalized following the Jan. 25 crash.

His father, Epifanio Camarena, 41, of Round Lake died at the scene of the two-vehicle collision, which happened on Route 83 at Lexington Drive at about 8:30 p.m. on Jan. 25.

Camarena's wife and three other children were also injured in the collision.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
