Store 'Uninhabitable,' Truck Still Inside It After Crash: Police
Polson's Natural Foods in Antioch, which lauds itself as the oldest health food store in IL, will remain closed for repairs.

ANTIOCH, IL β A family-owned health food store, which lauds itself as being the oldest in the state, will need to close for repairs after a truck ran into it this week.
The truck that crashed through the front of Polson's Natural Foods in Antioch remains inside the business and won't be removed from the site until the building is deemed stable, Jim Moran, communications manager for the village of Antioch, told Patch in an email response.
The building is currently uninhabitable, and a structural engineer is working to further assess the damage, Moran said.

The truck crashed through the building in the 900 block of North Main Street at about 5:05 p.m. Tuesday. The driver of the truck, a 33-year-old Spring Grove man, remained hospitalized Wednesday with injuries that are not considered life-threatening, Moran said
A preliminary investigation has ruled out drug or alcohol impairment as a cause for the collision, Moran said.

No one from Polson's was in the front of the store when the collision happened, and no one other than the truck driver was injured, according to officials. The store will be closed "for a while" as they work to "clean up and get everything figured out," according to a post on the business's Facebook page.
"A truck smashed through the front end of our store and did quite a bit of damage as can be seen. Thankfully everyone on our end was not in the front of the store when the accident happened," officials with Polson's wrote on Facebook and shared a picture of the damaged store. "Will update when more info is available. Thank you for supporting us and our sale that was going on during the week will be moved to some point in the future. Thank you for understanding."
Polson's has been in business since 1926. According to its Facebook page, the health food store is the oldest in Illinois.
