LAKE COUNTY, IL — A fight over a stolen car led to a shooting that left one teen dead and another injured, authorities said Monday. The owner of the car — Lynell P. Glover, 35, of the 2300 block of North Old Pond Lane — has been arrested and charged with two counts of aggravated battery with a firearm and obstructing justice in connection with the incident that happened early Sunday, according to online court records.

Glover appeared in court in Lake County Monday afternoon. His bail was set at $1 million.

The Lake County Coroner's Office has identified the teen as Anthony Awad, 17, of Hanover Park. An autopsy performed Monday morning indicate he died as a result of injuries sustained from a gunshot, according to a news release from the Lake County State's Attorney's Office.

Prior to the shooting, Glover spotted the teens in a vehicle he said belonged to him and that he'd recently reported stolen, according to a news release from the Lake County Sheriff's Office.

The teens fled from Glover, but the vehicle soon ran out of gas, police said. The teens pulled into the parking lot on Route 12, where police said a fight ensued. During a struggle between Glover and the teens, someone pulled out a gun, police said.

Authorities are not sure at this point who pulled the gun, but they believe Glover fired it at the teens several times, Lake County Sheriff's Office Sgt. Christopher Covelli told Patch in an email.

One of the teens was pronounced dead at the scene, and the other sustained serious injuries and was taken to an area hospital.

Glover sustained minor injuries but was not shot. He did not need any medical treatment, police said.

Police do not believe anyone else was involved in the incident, and there is no immediate threat to the surrounding community.

Glover is expected back in court on Jan. 8.
