Lake Co. Toddler In Stable Condition Following Crash: Update

The crash occurred near the Wisconsin-Illinois border in unincorporated Zion Monday morning.

A 22-month-old Winthrop Harbor girl who was flown to a Wisconsin hospital following a two-vehicle crash near the Wisconsin-Illinois border earlier this week is now listed in stable condition, authorities said Wednesday. The crash at about 10:24 a.m. when a black 2016 Toyota Camry that was turning south from Russell Road onto Kenosha Road was struck by a 2013 GMC Terrain that was eastbound on Russell Road in unincorporated Zion.

The 22-month old female passenger in the Camry was flown by Flight For Life helicopter to Children's Hospital of Wisconsin with a head injury. The child was in a child restraint system at the time of the crash, according to a news release from the Lake County Sheriff's Office.

The toddler, who is from Winthrop Harbor, was listed in stable condition as of Wednesday, Lake Co. Sheriff's Office Sgt. Sara Balmes said in an e-mail response. Balmes said no one had been cited following the crash.
