Village Board Recognizes Sustainable Businesses In Grayslake

The businesses were recognized at a March 5 village board meeting.

From The Village of Grayslake: The Village of Grayslake Village Board recognized local businesses designated as Grayslake Sustainable businesses as a part of a new sustainability initiative at the March 5th, 2019 Village Board meeting. GRIL (15 Commerce Dr., Grayslake, IL 60030), was the first business designated as a Grayslake Sustainable Business under the Village’s new sustainability initiative. GRIL was designated a Silver Level Grayslake Sustainable Business by implementing food scrap composting in addition to utilizing commercial recycling services. GRIL also uses compostable dishware on site, further showing its commitment to sustainability.

Something’s Brewin (82 Center St., Grayslake, IL 60030) and Old School Montessori (144 Commerce Dr. Grayslake, IL 60030), also achieved Silver Level Grayslake Sustainable Business designation through the implementation of food scrap composting services and the utilization of commercial recycling services. Prairie Crossing Charter School (1531 Jones Point Rd, Grayslake, IL 60030) was designated as the first Gold Level Grayslake Sustainable Business under the Village’s program. PCCS employs many sustainable methods, such as the use of solar, wind, and geothermal energy sources. PCCS has also worked to install energy efficient LED lights throughout the facility. Light the Lamp Brewery (2 S. Lake St., Grayslake, IL 60030) also achieved Gold Level Grayslake Sustainable Business designation through to the use of motion sensor lighting, high efficiency LED lighting, and high efficiency HVAC equipment at the restaurant in addition to implementing food scrap composting services and using commercial recycling.
