WI Woman Faces Multiple Charges Following 'Random Acts' Of Violence In Gurnee
Katelyn Harmon, 25, has been charged with attempted first-degree murder in connection with hitting 2 pedestrians, police said.
GURNEE — A 25-year-old Wisconsin woman faces several charges after allegedly striking two pedestrians with her vehicle and attacking a man with a knife along Grand Avenue on Monday.
Katelyn A. Harmon, of Waukesha, Wisconsin, has been charged with attempted first-degree murder, aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, aggravated battery causing great bodily harm and leaving the scene of a crash involving personal injury.
The incidents involved three victims: a 79-year-old man, a 60-year-old woman and a 30-year-old man, police said. The man hit by the vehicle remains hospitalized in critical but stable condition. The other two victims were treated and released from the hospital, according to a news release from the Gurnee Police Department.

According to police and witness reports, Harmon drove into a parking lot in the 6100 block of Grand Avenue and struck the two older pedestrians at about 10 a.m. on Monday, according to police.
She then approached a 30-year-old man who was sitting in his parked car in the 6400 block of Grand Avenue and used a butcher knife to strike the vehicle's window. She then slashed his tire, police said.

When he got out of the car, "a physical struggle ensued," leading to the man sustaining several cuts to his hands. The man was able to get the knife away from the woman, according to a news release.
Police were called to the scene of the physical altercation and used a Taser on the woman after she "aggressively approached an officer," according to the news release. She was then taken into custody.
Authorities say there is no known connection between Harmon and the victims, and the incidents appear to be random.
Harmon remains in custody and is expected to appear in Lake County First Appearance Court on Wednesday.
