Grayslake Track Star, Will Brewster, Signs with Asics

Former Grayslake Central track star and Davidson Wildcat signs a 2-year professional running contract with Asics.

Will Brewster of Grayslake is going to be a professional runner.

Brewster first gained the attention of local track fans when he earned all-state honors as a Grayslake Central freshman after an 8th place finish at the State Championship. He would go on to earn multiple all-state medals, win the AAU Cross-Country National Championship, win the Indoor 3200m State Title, and break school records in the 1600m (4:11), 3200m (9:02), and 4x800m (8:02).

After graduating high school in 2012, Brewster attended the University of Illinois, where he ran 4:10 in the mile and 8:11 in the 3000m. During his freshman year, he garnered USATF all-American honors after a 10th place finish at the USA Junior National Cross-Country Championship. In doing so, he was named a team USA alternant for the Junior World Cross-Country Championship.

In the fall of 2015, Brewster transferred to Davidson College, a small liberal arts school north of Charlotte, and home of 2x MVP and NBA Champion, Steph Curry. It was at Davidson under the direction of Renny Waldron, where Brewster excelled. In just two years, he earned all-Atlantic 10 honors 7 times, won 3 Atlantic 10 championships, was named Athlete of the Meet at the 2017 Indoor Atlantic 10 Championship, qualified for the NCAA Championships twice, and set program records in the mile, 3k, and 5k (14:07).

Upon graduating from Davidson, Brewster signed a 2-year contract with Asics GTC- Elite, an Olympic development group based in Greenville, South Carolina.
