GRAYSLAKE, Ill. – To put pressure on lawmakers who did not support his and Governor Rauner’s property tax freeze proposals, state Rep. Sam Yingling, D-Grayslake, is in the midst of a petition drive in support of a plan to freeze property taxes across the state.
“Lake County is infamous for having some of the highest property taxes in the country,” Yingling said. “Hardworking families are taxed enough, and this petition drive is a way for them to put pressure on Springfield to enact real, common sense tax relief that the Governor and I have been pushing for since day one.”
Yingling sponsored several tax relief measures that stalled in the General Assembly, including legislation that would immediately freeze tax levies. Under the proposals, property tax rates could only be increased if the voters approved hikes through referendum. The petition urges the General Assembly to support Yingling’s efforts to give tax relief to local residents.
“I will continue to push for property tax relief and remain committed to fighting for policies that rid our government of waste,” Yingling said. “With many families struggling with skyrocketing property tax bills, this petition drive is a tangible step we can take to show how much support this issue has. I encourage residents to sign the petition and join me in demanding property tax relief.”
People interested in signing or circulating the petition should contact Yingling’s full time constituent service office by phone at 847-231-6262, by email at repsamyingling@gmail.com or by visiting 20 N Whitney St., Suite A in Grayslake They can also visit his website, www.repsamyingling.com, for copies too.
Yingling represents the 62nd District, which contains portions of Gages Lake, Grayslake, Hainesville, the Round Lake communities, Wauconda and Wildwood.
