Yingling Hosting Supply Drive for A Safe Place Domestic Violence Shelter
Local state Rep. Collects Supplies for Shelter

ROUND LAKE BEACH, Ill. – State Rep. Sam Yingling, D-Grayslake, is launching a supply drive for the not-for-profit organization A Safe Place, Lake County’s sole provider of services exclusively addressing domestic violence.
“October is Domestic Violence awareness month and my work with A Safe Place has given me a clear understanding of the need to support and fund organizations that provide vital and often lifesaving resources to survivors of domestic abuse,” Yingling said. “A Safe Place is always in need of supplies such as paper towels, toilet paper, toiletries and I invite my community to join me in helping to collect some of this basic but critical supplies for domestic violence survivors and their children.”
In state budget negotiations, Yingling fought to protect state funding for domestic violence services, rape crisis hotlines and other support services that give survivors the tools they need to build healthy, independent lives. Additionally, he backed Senate Bill 57, now law, which makes it easier for victims of domestic violence to gain independence from their abusers by forcing cell phone service providers to give victims control of their phone. Monitoring and controlling phone usage is a prime example of the control tactics used by domestic abusers.

Our community has always stepped up to help the organizations that our communities depend on. Together, we can help A Safe Place thrive.”
