GRAYSLAKE, Ill. – Everyday, countless village hall Facebook pages, police bulletins and other official websites update residents about area scams being committed, but a large number of these public service awareness messages go unnoticed. That is why state Rep. Sam Yingling, D-Grayslake, teamed up with the Illinois Attorney General’s Office to provide dozens of local seniors a free anti-fraud event on Tuesday.

“With criminals more frequently turning to email and other web-based platforms to prey on unsuspecting victims, it is important to educate residents on the types of scams being perpetrated,” Yingling said. “I am thrilled dozens were able to participate in my event, and I am confident they are better armed with the knowledge of how to spot and combat various scam artists.”
