GRAYSLAKE, Ill – Building on his long-established record of fighting for lower taxes on residents of Lake County, State Rep. Sam Yingling, D-Grayslake, supported Governor Bruce Rauner’s initiative to freeze property taxes on Friday.

Yingling sponsored legislation, HB695, creates statewide and targeted property tax levy freezes for the foreseeable future. The Illinois House adopted the amendatory tax-freeze language today and now HB695 is headed for a final vote in the Illinois House.

“For far too long, government has been making its citizens foot the bill for decades of financial mismanagement,” Yingling said. “Property taxpayers are not an endless trough of cash and freezing property taxes will provide immediate relief to the families of Illinois.”

During debate on the House Floor, Yingling spoke with his colleagues about his reoccurring conversations with local residents struggling to pay their tax bills.

“Whether it is on their door step, at any number of my events, or through phone calls and emails to my full time constituent service office, the number one issue that constituents tell me they are most concerned about is their rising property taxes,” Yingling said, “The time is now for the Illinois General Assembly to act.”

Yingling represents the 62nd District, which contains portions of Gages Lake, Grayslake, Hainesville, the Round Lake communities, Wauconda and Wildwood.
