Zion Woman, 23, Struck By Stray Bullet, In Critical Condition

ZION, IL — A Zion woman is in critical condition after she was shot by what police say was a stray bullet Sunday night.

The woman, 23, was inside her home on the 2800 block of Enoch Avenue when she was struck by gunfire coming from outside the home. Police said it does not appear the woman was the intended target of the shooting.

Officers received reports of shots fired at around 9 p.m. Sunday and said it appeared shots were fired from the road. The woman was taken to a local hospital with "extremely critical injuries" police said in a statement.

Zion police will be assisted by the Lake County Major Crime Task Force.
