3 Maseratis Stolen From Car Dealership Garage: Blotter

HIGHLAND PARK, IL — The following information comes from the Highland Park Police Department and court records as a record of incidents reported to the police and of those arrested by police. Criminal charges represent accusations by the state and are often dropped or reduced. Updated information may be available from the Lake County Clerk of the Circuit Court. Everyone arrested is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law beyond a reasonable doubt.
INCIDENTS
DRUG SHOPLIFTING

- An unidentified male shoplifter stole an undetermined amount of over the counter medications from a business in the 600 block of Elm Place sometime around 1:43 p.m. on Aug. 31.
- Police suspect the same person entered a business in the 600 block of Roger Williams Avenue around 2:12 p.m. on Aug. 31.
- Someone walked into a business in the 1500 block of Clavey Road and stole an undetermined amount of over-the-counter medications.
CAR BURGLARY
Unidentified burglars smashed a rear window and stole $1100 worth of luggage from a locked U-Haul van that had been parked near a business in the 600 block of Central Avenue prior to 8:15 a.m. on Aug. 27.
CRIMINAL DAMAGE
A resident in the 3100 block of Summit Avenue reported around 11 a.m. on Aug 27 that someone had slashed the driver’s side tires of his car.

STOLEN CARS
Three privately owned Maserati sedans were stolen from the garage of a car dealership in the 200 block of Skokie Valley Road between the hours of 5 p.m. Sept. 1 and mid-morning Sept. 2. The cars were in the service garage with their keys inside.
ARRESTS
Dashaun Payne, 37, of the 1000 block of New York Street in Waukegan, was arrested at 11:21 p.m. on Sept. 1 and charged with driving under the influence when police approached Payne’s vehicle in the parking lot of a business in the 1400 block of Park Avenue.
Jason Svetska, 35, of the 10000 block of Waterford Drive in Westchester, was arrested at 8:34 p.m. on Sept. 2 at a Ravinia Festival facility in the 200 block of St. John's Avenue. He was reportedly found in possession of an a controlled substance and charged with attempting to possess a controlled substance, which is awaiting a final determination from the lab.
Victor Camacho Covarrubias, 19, of the 2700 block of Western Avenue in Highland Park, was arrested at 3:51 a.m. on Sept. 3 and charged with two counts of aggravated battery, to a security officer and a police officer and resisting arrest after police got a report of disorderly conduct occurring at Highland Park Hospital, 777 Park Ave. He was also cited for consumption of alcohol by a person under 21.
