6th ANNUAL ANTIQUES + MODERNISM WINNETKA RAISES $100,000+

Preview Party and Show Support the Programs and Services of Winnetka Community House

WINNETKA, Ill. – On Thursday, November 5, the Woman’s Board of Winnetka Community House kicked off Antiques + Modernism Winnetka with a highly anticipated benefit Preview Party at Winnetka Community House. More than 400 collectors, treasure hunters, interior designers and community supporters gathered for a first glimpse of this highly anticipated style and design event. Chaired by Winnetka resident Raheela Anwar, the preview party helped raise more than $100,000 to support the programs and services of Winnetka Community House, a non-tax supported organization that is dependent on a broad base of community support for its existence.

Continuing Winnetka Community House’s tradition of bringing some of the country’s finest dealers together, the 2015 Antiques + Modernism Winnetka Show (which ran from Friday, November 6 through Sunday, November 8), offered attendees the opportunity to peruse and purchase stunning, unique pieces of American, British, French and Asian antiques, as well as pieces from the Arts and Crafts, Art Nouveau, Art Deco and Mid-Century design movements. The exhibition featured furniture, silver, ceramics, jewelry, garden antiques, lighting, rugs, textiles, fine and folk art, architectural artifacts and more from 51 esteemed dealers from the U.S. and abroad.

In addition to the preview party and the show itself, there were other opportunities throughout the weekend in which attendees could participate including a VIP brunch with Leslie Hindman, renowned auctioneer and entrepreneur, A Design Over Wine discussion featuring interior designer Sarah Vaile of Sarah Whit Interior Design and antiques enthusiast Doug Van Tress, owner of The Golden Triangle, Moderated by Laura Hine, editor of Modern Luxury’s NS magazine, and an insightful look at matrimonial customs and rituals from past to present, presented by Ellie Carlson of the Winnetka Historical Society, Kelly Ryan of kate spade new york, and Amanda Bonnell of Belle Vie Bridal Couture.

“We were extremely pleased with the success of this year’s show and the amount of money we were able to raise for Winnetka Community House,” said Anwar. “Not only did we net more than $100,000, but we saw an increase in attendance of 14% over last year’s event. We are so grateful for the passionate support of our community and the wonderful generosity of our sponsors.”

Lead sponsors for this year’s event included North Shore Community Bank, Prestige Wine Imports, Carol and Jim Hansen, Northern Trust Bank, Secure Futures, Morgan Stanley, Challenger, Gray & Christmas, Inc., and Material Possessions, in addition to several other Community Partners and Founders’ Society members.

All proceeds from the Preview Party and show will benefit the programs and services of Winnetka Community House, a non-tax supported organization that is dependent on a broad base of community support for its existence. Winnetka Community House was placed on the National Registry of Historic Places in August, 2007.
