8 Cars Burglarized In A Single Night: Highland Park Crimes

HIGHLAND PARK, IL — The following information comes from the Highland Park Police Department as a record of incidents reported to the police and of those arrested by police. Readers are reminded than an arrest is not an indication of guilt, and criminal charges, which are often dropped or reduced, represent merely accusations. INCIDENTS

CRIMINAL DEFACEMENT

On the morning of July 31, it was reported that someone had defaced property with spray paint near the intersection of Old Deerfield and Old Skokie roads at an unknown date and time.

THEFT

On July 31, it was reported that somebody stole a piece of property from a residence located in the 2300 block of Tennyson Lane approximately three weeks prior from the reported date.

CRIMINAL DAMAGE

On Aug. 1, police were told someone had damaged a vehicle parked in the lot of a business located in the 1800 block of Green Bay Road around 10:30 a.m. that day.

THEFT

On Aug. 1, it was reported that someone stole multiple items of merchandise from a business located in the 100 block of Skokie Valley Road at some point during the past year.

THEFT

On Aug. 5, it was reported that an unidentified man and woman stole a wallet from an employee at a business located in the 1400 block of Old Skokie Road around 1 p.m. that day.

THEFT

On Aug. 5, it was reported that someone had stolen a wallet and a cell phone from a person at a business in the 200 block of St. Johns Avenue.

BURGLARY TO MOTOR VEHICLE

On Aug. 6th it was reported that an unknown individual(s) attempted to enter a vehicle located in the driveway of a residence in the 2700 block of Arlington Avenue.

BURGLARY TO MOTOR VEHICLE

On Aug. 6, police were told someone had entered an unlocked vehicle located in the driveway of a residence in the 0-100 block of Ridge Road, although no items were immediately reported missing.

BURGLARY TO MOTOR VEHICLE

On Aug. 6, it was reported that someone had entered an unlocked vehicle parked in the driveway of a home in the 200 block of Barberry Road and stole various items during the overnight hours of August 5-6.

BURGLARY TO MOTOR VEHICLE

On Aug. 6, police were told various items were stolen from an unlocked vehicle parked in the 300 block of Ridge Road during the overnight hours of Aug. 5-6.

BURGLARY TO MOTOR VEHICLE

On Aug. 6, it was reported that someone had entered an unlocked vehicle in the 200 block of Ridge Road, but no items were immediately reported missing.

BURGLARY TO MOTOR VEHICLE

On Aug. 6, it was reported that someone had entered an unlocked vehicle parked in the 800 block of Virginia Road. No items were reported missing.

BURGLARY TO MOTOR VEHICLE

On Aug. 6, it was reported that someone had entered another unlocked vehicle in the 800 block of Virginia Road. No items were reported missing.

THEFT

On Aug. 6, police were told someone had stolen two bicycles that had been left outside of a residence located in the 2800 block of Arlington Avenue.

BURGLARY TO MOTOR VEHICLE

On Aug. 6, it was reported that someone had entered an unlocked vehicle parked in the 200 block of Ridge Road and stole various items between 1 a.m. and 7 a.m. on Aug. 6.

ARRESTS/CITATIONS

SPEEDING

A 27-year-old Skokie woman was arrested and charged with speeding more than 35 mph over the limit and operating an uninsured motor vehicle after police conducted a traffic stop in the 200 block of the Edens Expressway on Aug. 1 at 4:15 a.m.

THEFT

On Aug. 1, Ronit Tal, of the 2100 block of Malory Lane, was cited for retail theft when she attempted to steal merchandise from a business located in the 2000 block of Skokie Valley Road.

SPEEDING

A 30-year-old Highland Park woman was arrested and charged with speeding more than 35 mph over the limit after police conducted a traffic stop near the intersection of Berkeley and McCraren roads on Aug. 2 at 2:30 a.m.

THEFT FROM A MOTOR VEHICLE

Jaime Gomez Jr., 22, of the 12000 block of West Cheyenne Road in Waukegan, was arrested and charged with theft from a motor vehicle after police responded to a complaint at a business in the 2400 block of Skokie Valley Road shortly after 11:30 a.m. on Aug. 4. He was released on a personal recognizance bond with a court date of August 21, 2017 in Waukegan.
