Accident Investigation Leads To DUI Charge, Woman Twice Stole From Home: Highland Park Crime

HIGHLAND PARK, IL — The following information comes from the Highland Park Police Department as a record of incidents reported to the police and of those arrested by police. INCIDENTS

BURGLARY ATTEMPT

On the morning of July 10, a resident reported someone had tried to enter a home in the 1000 block of Central Avenue on June 8.

THEFT

On the morning of July 11, a resident reported that someone had taken multiple bicycles from a business located in the 1200 block of Park Avenue West on July 8 between 4 a.m. and 5:15 a.m.

THEFT

Shortly after 4 a.m. on July 11, a resident reported that a woman had stolen multiple items from two people at a residence located in the 2700 block of Oak Street on July 8 and July 10 at unknown times of day.

CRIMINAL TRESPASS

Around 5:15 p.m. on July 11, it was reported that someone had entered an unlocked vehicle located in the 1200 block of Fredrickson Place and damaged personal property on between 9:30 a.m. and 5 p.m. that day.

THEFT

At 4:44 p.m. on July 16, police were told someone stole cash from an employee at a business located in the 2700 block of Skokie Valley Road between July 14 at 11 a.m. and July 16 at 11:30 a.m.

ARRESTS/CITATIONS

DRIVING UNDER THE INFLUENCE

Reid M. Martin, 22, of the 600 block of Sheridan Road in Highwood, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence, failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident, possession of cannabis and possession of drug paraphernalia around 12:10 a.m. on July 11 after police responded to a traffic accident in the 2800 block of Greenwood Avenue. He was released on a personal recognizance bond with a court date of August 9, 2017 in Waukegan.

DRIVING WHILE LICENSE SUSPENDED

A 29-year-old Waukegan man was arrested and charged with driving while license suspended and speeding shortly before 2 a.m. on July 16 after police conducted a traffic stop in the 2600 block of Skokie Valley Road. He was released on a personal recognizance bond with a court date of August 9, 2017 in Park City.

RETAIL THEFT

At 2:13 a.m. on July 11, police were dispatched to a business located in the 2000 block of Skokie Valley Road for a report that someone had tried to steal merchandise. One person was issued a citation for retail theft.
