HIGHLAND PARK, IL — Police are investigating a report of an armed robbery at a Highland Park salon Sunday. Officers were called to The Nail Shop, 473 Roger Williams Ave., at 4 p.m., where a single staffer had just been confronted by a group of masked robbers, police said.

Four to five suspects came into the store wearing masks, and one brandished a handgun, police said. They demanded cash and stole the cell phone of the employee before fleeing. There were no customers in the store at the time.

Police said a dark blue minivan was seen driving away at high speeds. The suspects were described as black teens with thin builds and wearing black mask. A local alert was broadcast to nearby agencies after officers secured the scene and got descriptions from the witness, police said.
